Registrar (2 year term) nominations

Gerard Gagnon

Hello my name is Gerard and I’ve been the NGHA registrar for the past two years. I have enjoyed this role and am interested in continuing for another term. I have made a point of being approachable and to offer my assistance and support, as I am often the initial point of contact for new and current members, team managers and coaches.

Prior to becoming the Registrar I spent a full season shadowing and working with the past Registrar to learn the various software systems and the rules of the many organizations with whom we work. This year of shadowing enabled me to step into the role of Registrar as seamlessly as possible.

My current experience and knowledge of the NGHA system and the training received for the new OWHA mandated system will play a crucial role this year as we have a shortened window for registration. I have a vast knowledge of the NGHA and OWHA rules and regulations.

In the past two years I’ve built a strong rapport with both the ODWHA/OWHA registrars, Convenors, NGHA board and team managers which enables me to get crucial matters attended to quickly. These relationships will be essential as we will have to create house league and competitive rosters, waivers, review coaches qualifications, volunteer sign ups, releases and answers all emails in an expedited manor.

Thank you for consideration. I look forward to being able to continue to assist you for the next term.

Andrea Sacca

Multiple sports with multiple kids means hundreds of registrations. I would like to use my skills on the flipside with the amazing NGHA community that has been a part of my life since my oldest started IP 15 years ago. I have an incredible amount of respect and admiration for Joanne Erbach who held the position of registrar for 16 years and I remember dropping cheques by her house many times. For my children’s house league and competitive teams over the years I have been Manager, Treasurer, Social Media coordinator, Den Mom, Assistant Coach in Atom, Social Coordinator and Fundraiser Coordinator. I also celebrate hockey and girl’s hockey in particular, coordinating Mother-Daughter hockey games for International Girl’s Hockey Day and I know many of you from coordinating Hockey Mama’s, a pick up night for women of all skill levels, but mostly for those of us who don’t have the super star moves and have to borrow equipment from our kids. I still plan to play a role in my kid’s minor hockey teams, but now that my youngest is in first year Atom, I feel like it is time to embrace my turn in a larger role. I also have mad skills in project management and computers for anyone who cares about that part.

To all NGHA family members,
In reapplying for the position of Competitive Director, I hope to continue my pursuit of helping to create and institute policies that provide the most positive experiences for our players and their families, as well as our community of Coaches.I believe that my experiences as a Coach, Coach mentor, development facilitator, and Board member, through my 13 years associated with the NGHA on both house league and competitive from Novice B to Midget AA, has allowed me to build relationships and insights that are imperative to this position. Likewise, my goal and focus is to always be a conduit for our community of Coaches, driving them to implement current, best practices, in skill development, athlete centred coaching, and relationship building models within their teams.

Registration for the 2020 / 2021 Season is Open!

Hello NGHA members,

We are in uncharted waters and our hearts go out to all of those affected by this pandemic and our thanks go out to all those who are on the front lines helping us hold things together.

It is a time without precedent.

We wanted to reach out to you to give you an update on what the hockey landscape looks like. We know that hockey is a very important part of the fabric of our membership and this has been a hard time for everyone.

I had a call with the OWHA on Monday night with all the Presidents of Associations across Ontario. The message was that the situation is in a constant state of flux and that Hockey Canada and the OWHA want to do everything they can to get hockey back on the ice in a safe and responsible way.

Now they just have to figure out what that looks like.

I can tell you that currently everything is on hold across the country from Hockey Canada’s directive. There will be rumours about what may be happening or what other Associations may be doing, but the reality is, we are in a holding pattern.

We wanted to approach this with a positive mindset and we believe/hope that the season will begin in some way, shape or form.

I know people have many questions about when it will start, what it will look like, how tryouts will happen when sort-outs will be and many, many other questions.

We do not know what those answers are.

With that, we wanted to open up registration for next year officially. We will not be asking for any payment at this time, as we do not know what the landscape will look like and what the registration fees will be. We also know that it is a very difficult time financially for many in our communities right now.

The registration link is here;

If you have questions, please feel free to reach out to me directly.

Please take care and be safe,
Jarrett Thompson
