$740.00 $790.00 $299.00

House league players who register before July 1, 2019, will be guaranteed a spot on a team.
Those registering after July 1, 2019, will be placed on a waiting list and there is no guarantee that additional spots will be opened. Coaches need to be secured and ice booked long before the season starts and registration by July 1st allows the association the time it needs to adequately prepare for the season..

For Novice and Atom House League: sortouts will take place the weekend of September 7-8, 2019.
The complete sortout schedule will be released at the end of August. Players will then be sorted into balanced teams and practices will start the following weekend.

For Peewee, Bantam and Midget House League, there will not be a sortout session for the 2019-20 season. Balanced teams at these levels will be sorted using the previous season’s player ratings. If you/your daughter did not play last season, please contact the HL Director. Parents/players will be notified of the team they have been assigned to at the end of August. Team practices will start the weekend of September 7-8, 2019. If necessary, player movements will occur up to the end of September.

FUNdamentals Program

If your daughter wants to play hockey, we are the place for her! We have numerous girls stepping on the ice for the first time in our program as well as girls who have considerable experience for their age. Our program is divided into two, allowing for the stronger players, typically the 6-year olds who are in their second year with us, to learn together and progress as they can. The other hour, while the skill is greatly varied, is a great fit for a first time hockey player. On day 1 we will teach the girls how to stand, get up from falling, etc., and really focus on skating for the first few sessions to try and have most of the players strong(er) on their skates before we introduce a lot of pucks.

The program is open to girls born in 2013 and 2014.

Program Specifics

Our FUNdamental schedule runs from the beginning of October to the end of March (approximately 25 weeks) with weekly Saturday afternoon ice times. In December, we add an additional rotating hour where all of our girls play mini-games, with the ice divided into 3 games. Therefore, from December to March, all the girls are on the ice 2 hours a week, usually on Sunday. FUNdamentals registration is $299 for the season. We do not have additional costs on top of this, besides of course your daughters equipment!

Required Equipment

If your child does not have all the equipment listed below they will not be permitted on the ice.
Please read more about the NGHA Equipment Policy

House League Program

The NGHA runs an internal house league program that starts in September and runs through to March.
The majority of house league ice is on the weekends with practices typically on Saturdays and games on Sundays.
You can expect to play in three or four tournaments with at least one being out of town.
The majority of our practices and games are at Minto Recreation Complex in Barrhaven, Carleton University.
The season ends with a tournament-style playoff weekend that occurs in early March.
In addition to the registration fee, there are team fees which cover tournament registration fees, goalie training, some practice ice and other team expenses. Team fees typically range from $250 to $300.

Development Stream (DS)

Development Stream (DS) is a subset of the House League Programme, offering an enhanced opportunity for NGHA House League players who are looking for more development and an option to play more hockey with the potential to stream toward competitive hockey in the future. It is also ideal for House players that are not ready to make the commitment of playing competitive hockey, but are looking for more than the House program offers.

The NGHA anticipates DS teams at the Novice, Atom, Pee Wee and Bantam levels. DS teams are permitted to play in a maximum of 3 tournaments and 8 exhibition games against other DS teams. The teams will practice on a regular basis and operate separately from the house teams. There are no league games for DS.

Players that play on a DS team must also fully participate with their current NGHA house league team as the players house team is the first priority.

Parents are expected to pay approx. $500 for team fees for a DS season. Tournaments are outside of the team budget, so players participating in the tournaments are responsible for their share of the entry fees. Any additional expenses are also the participant's responsibility (hotels, food etc.). The cost for the tryout is $25.00 and will be payable when registering. Evaluations/Tryouts for DS will take place at the beginning of November and an information night for all those interested will be held beginning of November. Please check the NGHA website for updates on exact dates.

If there are any questions about the program please contact David Hunter, DS Convenor at DS@ngha.ca.
