Hello and welcome to the Midget AA tryouts. I am thrilled to be named the coach for upcoming 2017-2018 season. I would like to provide you with some information on my approach towards the game and plan for the team for the upcoming season.
Nepean's Intermediate AA, Midget AA, and Bantam AA teams will work closely together to develop all players in a club program. There will be combined conditioning and on ice programs for the four teams in different combinations throughout the summer and regular season.
I know the importance and impact a Coach can have on players learning the sport. I am fully committed to making this year fun and memorable. I will strive to develop each and every player and commit to the growth of the overall team throughout the season. Practices will be up tempo and challenging for goalies and players. I will work hard to make practices challenging and push players to reach their full potential.
Once tryouts are complete our team staff will be determined. I will be looking for a number of volunteers, in the role of Assistant coaches, Trainers, and a Manager, treasurer, social events coordinator, clothing & equipment, tournament meals & activities coordinator, etc. There will be lots of opportunity for fundraising and parent involvement and I encourage parents to get involved and share your talents.
I believe with the game of hockey there is nothing bigger than the Team and as a team if we are not having fun then we are missing an opportunity. I truly believe that hockey is more than just an on ice game but rather includes team events, practices, fundraising, and a variety of social opportunities, were friendships are formed and families bond. My approach to coaching will include:
Player Skill Development
Player and family commitment is very important to the success of the team and any program. Depending on schedule, you can expect to be at rink or dry land 3-5 times a week. Family and school are everyone’s top priorities, but it is expected that this teams hockey commitments take priority over all other sports. The financial commitment over and above registration for this coming year will be approximately $2800-$3000 depending on sponsorship and fundraising efforts.
The proposed schedule, however, it is subject to change :
September 2018 NAHA
September 2018 Stoney Creek
November 2018 North Country Shootout
December 2018 US Canada Cup
January 2019 Kanata
January 2019 NGHA
February 2019 Quebec
April 2019 Provincials
Exhibition games in Kingston late August and St Lawrence or Clarkson - October
I look forward to seeing you all at tryouts and wish you the best of luck. If you have any questions, comments or concerns prior to that time please feel free to contact us through the on-line form available on the website.
