Introduction

As the competitive coach for the Midget BB – Team Boucher for the 2019-2020 season, I bring a great deal of experience and perspective. I have been a part of the NGHA coaching network for the past several years. I have always been a very involved and dedicated coach. I consider it a true privilege to be coaching these young women. I have taken and continue to take this responsibility very seriously.

The success of this team will not be simply defined by “wins” in league play or tournaments, although that is certainly one of our goals. The success will come from players/parents having an exciting, fun year where the girls will have developed their skills to their highest level of play.

I believe a supportive and nurturing bench staff is also crucial to a successful hockey season. Experience, attitude, and commitment are the attributes that I seek each year in associates. I also recognize that the mechanics of the team are dependent on having a group of dedicated volunteers, most importantly the manager, and I will ensure I select a supportive administrative group to fulfill the necessary roles.

My philosophy

My goals, in addition to having a fun and winning season, are to help develop the attributes in these girls and young women that are integral to their success in life. I will continue to emphasize team work, team commitment, hard work, responsibility and I will encourage leadership. I have and will continue to focus on ensuring the team environment for these girls is supportive, positive and nurturing. We will challenge them both on and off the ice to be the best player and person they can be.

I expect our entire hockey family to work together so we all represent ourselves, our team and our league with pride. Win or lose, I expect sportsmanship, respect, teamwork, and for all to give their best effort.

Commitment

Player and family commitment is very important to the success of this team. Expect to be on the ice 3-5 times per week. My belief is that family and school are everyone’s priorities, but it is expected that this team be the number one sports priority.

Fitness is also an important aspect of any successful team and player development. Whether it be team fitness activities or at home activities, I encourage the girls to participate in order to keep up with the demands of a long competitive season.

The financial commitment required from each family over and above the registration and tryout fees is expected to be between $1700 and $1900, depending on sponsorship and fundraising.

Tournaments

We will be participating in five or six tournaments this season (3 local and 3 away), plus Provincials if we qualify. Below is a tentative list of tournaments for the coming season:
* Niagara Falls (Sep)
* Etobicoke (Oct 12-14)
* North Bay (Nov)
* Gloucester (Dec)
* Jan (tentative)
* Nepean (Feb )

Coaching Staff

Our collective staff will possess a variety of skill-sets and I will leverage the expertise and experience of every member. The staff will be formed after the tryouts and will collaborate and share ideas before and throughout the season.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Go Wildcats!
