I’m am pumped to have the opportunity to coach the Nepean Wildcats PeeWee A team for the 2018-2019 season. We have two daughters playing in the NGHA and I have had the pleasure of coaching at various levels in variety of roles over the last 8 years.
Competitive sports should still be fun. If the girls aren’t having fun what is the point of making such a significant time and financial investment.
Set and strive for team goals that push players to grow out of their comfort zone and further develop their individual hockey and life skills.
Commitment to hard work and dedication to the betterment of the team. The coaching staff will be committed to being focused and prepared for all practices and games. Players are expected to demonstrate a disciplined work ethic and eagerness to learn.
The team will be together on average 4 times per week.
Family and school are always top priority over hockey. The expectation is this team will take priority over other activities and teams.
Tournaments (TBD): 3 out of town, 2-3 local
The estimated team fees are $2000 per player.
NGHA has a deep and talented group of players at all levels. This means based on numbers there will be very difficult decisions made in conjunction with the evaluators and some very good players will have to be released from this team.
Players will be evaluated on their individual skills, “hockey IQ”, competitive intensity and work ethic.
Previous year level and team played for guarantees nothing. However, feedback from previous coaching staffs on a player’s work ethic, commitment, “coachability” and reputation as a good teammate will all be contributing factors in the selection process.
Good luck to all the girls.
