Philosophy

My emphasis is on player and team development while striving to make sure every player on the team develops both individually and, as part of the team. Hockey is a fantastic platform for athletic, as well as character development. I believe that while it's important to push hard at every game, and strive for wins, it is as much or more important to develop individual and team skills. We’ll use our season together to develop teamwork, discipline, responsibility and leadership. All skills with great applicability both on and off the ice.

Individual skill development will be emphasized for all, though this will undoubtedly look different for
each player. The ultimate goal is that each player will use their strengths to make the team as a whole
stronger.

Together with my coaching staff the focus will be on safety, a team first attitude, creating a fun
atmosphere for the entire team, and respect for teammates, coaches, parents, opponents & officials.

Fair ice time: each player will be given a chance to develop
Build work ethic and character: players will be challenged to work hard and do drills with high intensity. Players will be presented with “stretch objectives” with a constant progression in drills and skills.
Practice with a purpose: Practice as you expect to play. Purpose driven practices resulting in individual and team development
Treat each player as an individual: Every player is unique. I will work hard to develop strategies that bring out the best in each player.
Decision making: Provide opportunities for decision making. Staring with set plays, develop the “read and react” skills so important to the game.
