WHEREAS Section 2.6.a of the NGHA Constitution states that a core objective of the NGHA is to “Promote the participation of girls and women in all aspects of female hockey.”;
AND WHEREAS coaches play an integral part in the development of female hockey athletes;
AND WHEREAS the NGHA is committed to creating opportunities for more female coaches to serve in head and assistant coach capacities within its Competitive and House League Programs;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the NGHA is committed to:
- Making every effort to have at least one female coach/assistant coach on every competitive or house league team each hockey season
- Placing priority on creating opportunity for female coaches to assume head coaching roles within the competitive and house league programs, including more female coaches coaching at the senior levels of the competitive program from Novice to Intermediate
- Providing female coaches with access to training and peer-mentoring as part of their ongoing coaching development
- Ensuring a respectful and constructive environment within which female coaches can excel
AND FURTHER RESOLVED THAT:
- The NGHA will communicate these objectives to membership throughout the season, and report on progress in advancing this resolution at each Annual General Meeting
